Abstract
Can the potential of comics be conceived beyond their illustrative relationship to scientific knowledge? This question lies at the core of the article, which was written within the context of the Early Career Workshop of the German Society for the History of Technology (gtg) on “Comics in Science.” From the perspective of the history of science and technology, the comic is examined as a format for communicating scientific knowledge and, in the sense of ‘thinking through drawing,’ its epistemic potential is explored. This raises the fundamental question of how the comic medium can be productively combined with the history of science and technology.
